    Hi there I am such a huge fan of Titleist equipment. I recently met with some potential disappointment when I discovered that my AP2 irons could be forgery's.

    I purchased these irons second hand from a fellow golfer and have been using them for a few months. I am really happy with the feel and how they hit.

    I recently had the shafts upgraded to Project x non-flighted 6.0. When the professional shaft fitter installed the shafts he found that the shafts were somewhat loose in the hosel (despite making certain I matched .355 taper tips). and that secondly the ferules didn't match flush with the hosel diameter. This raised questions of clubhead authenticity.

    I am here to seek assistance to determine if mine are the real deal, obviously if they are not I will cut them down for my two year old to hack with. and will seek to purchase for myself the genuine product.

    Here are the details:

    4 iron - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    5 iroin  - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    6 iron  - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    7 iron  - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    8 iron - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    9 iron -  serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    P - serial  58QRV  serial number is on the hosel of all clubs printed in a dotted lettering.

    Hi Brendon,

    Without seeing the clubs in question it's hard to say one way or the other (if they are counterfeit or not), however we can look up the serial numbers below to see if the clubs were purchased here in Australia or not.

    We've seen forgery's with laser etched serial numbers on the hosels- just like we do it at the factory and we've seen them clean with no numbers. 

    At Titleist Australia we will put a serial number on clubs or even just the 6 iron for a set of irons custom ordered- it's our way of identifying the specs that a particular club had from the fitter. (eg Length, lie, grip size, Swingweight etc).  Sometimes stores and consumers request iron sets are supplied clean without serial numbers so there are no set in stone rules for serial numbers.

    What you have described above in relation to the ferules lining up flush with the hosel is a common one our club guys see a lot in clubs that are returned for repair.  Usually you will find that the previous owner has had the original shafts removed and replaced by a local club repairer.  There are very few club makers around that go to the trouble of finishing off the ferrules with the light belt and some acetone- as we do it, to ensure the finish is perfect. (See Pic Below)

    As far as the shaft tips not fitting the hosel, there's a bunch of reasons why that might happen.  First up you need to check that the previous shaft has been completely removed and no part is still in the sleeve.  Second when you get backyard repairers playing around with different shafts they sometimes 'drill out' the hosel to make the new shafts fit.  

    These are just two of many reasons why we advise all consumers who purchase Titleist clubs to only have their clubs worked on and repaired by our staff of professional club builders and club technicians.

    Hi Dave, A recent ad on ebay listed a combo cb 710 and mb 710 with serial number 38052900. Is there a way to check if this is authentic. Josef
